Solstice Sunrise in the Seaport District

Just a few days ago, I returned to the harbor for sunrise. It is a walk I have taken many times, but this morning felt more meaningful because it happened to be the winter solstice. The solstice is the shortest day and the longest night of the year, and the sun reaches its lowest arc in the sky. There is a quiet sense of hope in that moment because every day after brings a little more light.

I started at the ICA in the Seaport and followed the shoreline to the Boston Harbor Hotel, watching the shift from blue hour to the first warm light of winter. This is what that walk looked like.
