Early Hours in Quincy Square

I parked just west of Chestnut Street and started walking toward the Town Hall area as the light began to come up. The streets were empty and the sky overcast, holding everything in a flat, even tone.

Quincy Square was quiet at that hour. Storefronts were closed, sidewalks clear, and the usual movement hadn’t started yet. Streetlights were still on in places, fading slowly as the morning settled in.

I moved along Hancock Street and across the common, stopping briefly near the statues and the Town Hall as the light shifted. Nothing dramatic — just a calm stretch of time before the day began to fill in.

These photographs were taken during that short window when the city is present but still, before direction and noise return.

Quincy Square, Massachusetts.
