After my first failed attempt last week, I finally managed to spot and photograph Comet Tsuchinshan–ATLAS (C/2023 A3) in the night sky. At first, I wasn’t sure where the best location would be, but I eventually chose Duxbury Beach. The idea was to capture the historic Powder Point Bridge in the foreground, adding some interest to the photo.

If you haven’t seen it already, Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) is still visible tonight, although it has started to gradually fade after reaching its peak brightness around October 12. The comet will be moving away from Earth and the Sun, causing its brightness to decrease steadily over the coming days, but it will still be a good viewing target through October 20, particularly from dark locations.

By the end of October, its brightness will drop further and it will require binoculars or telescopes for optimal viewing. After November, the comet will continue to fade and eventually become too faint for most observers as it moves farther away from Earth, marking the last chance to view it this year from New England.
