The Granite Avenue Drawbridge in South Boston glowed beautifully in the morning light, its steel catching the first colors of sunrise. Built in the early 20th century, the bridge has long been part of the city’s daily rhythm. I’ve driven over it countless times and have also always admired the quick glimpse you get of it when heading South on Expressway 93.
On this particular day, I captured the bridge from both the ground and the air, as the first light of sunrise painted the steel and water with warm, golden tones, while the surrounding trees and foliage glowed with the vibrant colors of autumn.
The majority of my time was spent at Neponset Park nearby, where it offered the best vantage point due to the direction of the rising sun. From there, I watched the morning unfold over the bridge and river, a quiet start to the day in Dorchester.
