The Plymouth Rock Portico in Plymouth, Massachusetts. To capture this perspective, I climbed the stairs to Carver Street, where the vantage point is spectacular. I took this photo shortly before sunrise in late fall, which helped ensure the scene was free of people.
The Plymouth Rock Portico is a shelter for Plymouth Rock, the legendary site of the Pilgrims’ 1620 landing. Many believe this rock marks their historic arrival in the New World. Designed in the early 20th century, the portico reflects the neoclassical architectural style and serves both as a protective cover and a monument to American history.
