Autumn Bridge

If you drive on Route 53 between Hanover and Pembroke, you may have caught a peek of the Washington Street Bridge. It separates the two towns and was erected by the Commonwealth, county, and towns in A.D. 1904. I’ve always loved how it reflects in the waters of the North River below, especially during autumn. Unfortunately, capturing it from the Route 53 side proved to be challenging; it’s at an odd angle and blocked by many trees.

I attempted to find a path to get under the road bridge for a better view but couldn’t locate an entrance. Before giving up completely, I decided to drive around to the other side and access the Washington Street Bridge itself, where I ended up framing this photo of the Route 53 Bridge.

Sometimes, despite your best efforts, the shot you hoped for doesn’t always come, but each attempt teaches you something new and adds to the adventure.
