The Mother Church in Boston, also known as the First Church of Christ, Scientist, glowed softly during the early dawn hours. With nobody around, the plaza and reflecting pool felt completely still, the dome and tower mirrored in the calm water.
Capturing the full scene without an ultra-wide lens pushed me to improvise. I shot a series of vertical panoramas to take in the dome, the surrounding plaza, and the Four Seasons tower rising beside the Prudential. That tower was the hardest element to fit, but I felt it belonged in the composition. When stitched together, the frames held the scale and clean lines of the architecture, with the church mirrored in the calm morning light.
